Aunt Jean

Let me tell you about my Aunt Jean.

She was a Christian for over 65 years.

She was married to the love of her life for more than 50 years.

She loved Jesus more than anyone I've ever known, and tried to show His love His people by serving and loving others herself.

She knew and spoke of God's truths and promises.

She had prophetic moments- She told me I would marry Sean after a few months of us dating. Did I mention that she made him go outside for her to tell me this? He tried to come back in before we had finished talking. She sent him back outside and told him to go for a walk. =)

She had a fantastic way of making me feel awkward with some advice she gave me.

She wrote to the newspaper if there was an article supporting abortion or anything she disagreed with. she wrote letters. Letters chopped full of Bible verses stating why that particular thing was wrong. Most newspapers printed her letters. She had a HUGE scrap book full of things of hers that had been printed.

She would wake up sometime between 5 and 6, ride her exercise bike, and read her Bible for at least 2 hours every morning...at 94 years old.

She told me on a consistent basis that she wanted to go home. She wanted to see Leroy (her late husband) and she wanted to see Jesus face to face. Yesterday morning, despite my years of protest, she passed away and got everything she had said she wanted. The Christmas before my Dad and my Uncle Bob passed away, Aunt Jean, Bob, Dad, my Uncle Charles, and myself had planned a picnic for the 5 of us. She said the following Christmas that she was sad that never happened. I think that picnic that has been 4 and half years in the waiting is finally taking place...maybe Jesus, Peter, Paul, Ruth, and David can tag along too!

These verses have always made me think of Aunt Jean, now more than ever. They are truly her testimony. I was blessed to have her as long as I did. She was quite a lady!

7) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8) In the future, there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved His appearing

beautiful. I wish I had had an opportunity to meet her this side of heaven, but you'd better introduce me when we both get there, too!
